Henry F. Levy was born in Cologne in 1927. In 1938 he emigrated to England, where he began studying natural sciences at the University of London. From 1947 to 1950, Henry F. Levy worked as a production engineer and lecturer at South East Essex Technical College. From 1952 he was a partner and director of an internationally active button factory in London for four years. In 1957 Henry F. Levy moved to Switzerland, where he became managing director and later owner of Schuhhaus Csuka AG. Twenty years later he bought an agricultural business in Kent/England and managed it until 1982. In 1983 he moved back to Switzerland, in 1985 he married Lucia Coray and established the BINZ39 Foundation, where he was active until 2020.

Lucia Coray was born in Zurich in 1957. After an apprenticeship she studied fine arts. Since 1983 she has worked as a freelance artist. Her works have been shown at the BINZ39 Foundation, Zurich; Mercer Union, Toronto; Strauhof, Zurich; Stadtmuseum Munich; Kunsthalle Langenthal; Kunstmuseum Chur and Kunstmuseum Solothurn, among others. Since 1996, Lucia Coray, together with the curators, has been responsible for the exhibition program and scholarship awards of the BINZ39 Foundation, parallel to her own artistic work.
